High Blood Pressure or Hypertension

High Blood Pressure or Hypertension is a long term medical condition. In this condition blood pressure in major arteries is persistently elevated. Generally normal blood pressure at rest of an adult is within the range of 100 to 130 mmHg. For most adults high blood pressure is present if the resting blood pressure is persistently at or above 130/80 or 140/90. 

Usually lifestyle and genetic factors are the main causes of Hypertension. Excess salt, excess body weight, smoking, alcohol etc. are the main risk factor for High Blood Pressure. So, both medication and lifestyle change needed for High Blood Pressure Treatment. High Blood Pressure is act as risk factor many complications like coronary artery disease, stroke, heart failure, peripheral vascular disease, vision loss, chronic kidney disease, dementia etc.

Globally 16 to 37% people are suffering from Hypertension. Not only that, every year around 9.4 million people die due to Hypertension.
